1. The new Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) takes full advantage of the self-supporting capacity of the surrounding rock and the spatial constraint of the excavation face, and uses bolts and shotcrete as the main support means to strengthen the surrounding rock.
2. Restrain the relaxation and deformation of surrounding rock, and guide the design and construction of underground works through the measurement and monitoring of surrounding rock and support.
