Citizens who meet the conditions for handling ID cards in different places can handle ID cards in different places when their ID cards expire. Citizens can provide the original valid household register or residence card to the permanent residence registration department for consultation and handling of identity cards.

 Article 12 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Resident Identity Cards states that the public security organ shall promptly handle the application of citizens for obtaining, changing or reissuing resident identity cards in accordance with regulations.
 The public security organ shall issue resident identity cards within 60 days after citizens submit the Application and Registration Form for Resident Identity Cards; In areas with inconvenient transportation, the handling time may be extended appropriately, but the extended time shall not exceed 30 days.
