The child has reached the age of 18, and usually does not need to pay maintenance fees after divorce. Our laws clearly stipulate that the payment period of alimony is generally until the child is 18 years old. In addition, the child has reached the age of 18 and can live independently. Under the condition of normal intelligence and spirit, the child is an adult with full civil capacity, and the parents no longer bear the legal obligation of upbringing.
    Legal basis:
Article 53 of the Interpretation of the Supreme People's Court on the Application of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China Marriage and Family Code (I)
The period of payment of alimony is generally until the child is 18 years old.
If the child is over 16 but under 18 years old, takes his/her labor income as the main source of income, and can maintain the general local living standard, his/her parents may stop paying maintenance fees.
