According to the provisions of Article 39 of the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China, at the time of divorce, the joint property of the husband and wife shall be handled by agreement between the two parties.  According to the above legal provisions, what the husband and wife divide when they divorce is the joint property obtained by the husband and wife during the marriage relationship. The reason for the division is that the husband and wife have ownership of the joint property, so the property of other people, including the husband's parents, cannot be divided because the husband and wife have no ownership.
 According to the provisions of Article 17 of the Marriage Law, the following property acquired by the husband and wife during the marriage relationship shall be jointly owned by the husband and wife:
 1、 Bonus salary.
 2、 Income from production and operation.
 3、 Benefits of intellectual property.
 4、 The property obtained from inheritance or donation, except for the property determined in the will or donation contract to belong to the husband or wife only.
 5、 Other properties that should be jointly owned.
