According to the Law on the Protection of Wildlife, wildlife under special local protection refers to wildlife under special protection by provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, with the exception of wildlife under special national protection.
According to Chinese laws, wildlife refers to rare and endangered terrestrial and aquatic wildlife and terrestrial wildlife with important ecological, scientific and social values. The State implements the principle of giving priority to the protection of wildlife, regulating its utilization and strictly supervising wildlife, encourages scientific research on wildlife, cultivates citizens' awareness of wildlife protection, and promotes the harmonious development of man and nature.
Legal basis
Article 2 of the Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of China applies to wildlife protection and related activities within the territory of the People's Republic of China and other sea areas under its jurisdiction. The wildlife to be protected as stipulated in this Law refers to rare and endangered terrestrial and aquatic wildlife and terrestrial wildlife of important ecological, scientific and social value. Wildlife and its products as prescribed in this Law refer to the whole (including eggs and eggs), parts and derivatives of wildlife. The protection of aquatic wildlife other than rare and endangered aquatic wildlife shall be governed by the provisions of the Fisheries Law of the People's Republic of China and other relevant laws.
