The time limit for responsibility division of road traffic accidents is as follows:
 1、 Generally, after a traffic accident occurs, the responsibility determination shall be made within ten days from the date of the on-site investigation, and a letter of responsibility determination for the traffic accident shall be prepared.
 2、 If the person who caused the accident escapes, he/she shall make a responsibility determination within ten days after finding the person who escaped, and prepare a letter of responsibility determination for the traffic accident.
 If no fugitive is found, the party concerned shall make a responsibility determination and prepare a traffic accident determination letter within ten days after receiving the written application for compensation for the damage caused by the traffic accident.
 3、 If the accident requires inspection or appraisal of the evidence, the responsibility determination shall be made within five days after the inspection and appraisal results are issued, and a letter of responsibility determination for traffic accidents shall be made.

 According to Article 73 of the Road Traffic Safety Law, the traffic management department of the public security organ shall, in accordance with the on-site inspection, inspection and investigation of the traffic accident and the relevant inspection and appraisal conclusions, timely prepare a traffic accident identification letter as evidence for handling the traffic accident.
 The letter of determination of traffic accidents shall state the basic facts of the traffic accidents, the causes of the traffic accidents and the responsibilities of the parties concerned, and shall be served on the parties concerned.
