Drug addicts who voluntarily register with the public security organ or go to a qualified medical institution for treatment of drug addiction shall not be punished. The public security organ may directly make a decision on compulsory isolation for drug addicts who are seriously addicted to drugs and who are difficult to get rid of drug addiction through community detoxification. A drug addict who voluntarily accepts compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation may, with the consent of the public security organ, enter a compulsory isolation place for drug rehabilitation. According to Article 62 of the Drug Control Law of the People's Republic of China, those who ingest or inject drugs shall be given administrative penalties for public security according to law. Drug addicts who voluntarily register with the public security organ or go to a qualified medical institution for treatment of drug addiction shall not be punished.
