The act of running away without stopping when the traffic police check is certainly illegal, and the traffic management department of the public security organ may, according to the provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Public Security Administration Penalties, give a warning to the party concerned or impose a fine of less than 200 yuan, or forcibly flush the card, and impose a public security detention of more than 5 days but less than 10 days and a fine of less than 500 yuan.
 When the traffic police check the car, don't drive away. This is not only a serious violation of the law, but also a great risk to your own life and the life of others. If you drive away, the traffic police will not chase you in general, because the Road Traffic Safety Law does not encourage the traffic police to chase illegal vehicles, but informs the traffic police at other intersections (areas) to intercept them. Traffic police who chase suspects (vehicles) and cause serious traffic accidents shall also bear legal responsibility.
 Legal basis
 Article 50 of the Law on Administrative Penalties for Public Security shall be given a warning or fined not more than 200 yuan for any of the following acts:; If the circumstances are serious, he shall be detained for not less than five days but not more than 10 days and may also be fined not more than 500 yuan:
 （1） Refusing to implement the decisions and orders issued by the people's government according to law under the state of emergency;
 （2） Obstructing functionaries of State organs from performing their duties according to law;
 （3） Obstructing the passage of fire engines, ambulances, engineering rescue vehicles, police vehicles and other vehicles carrying out urgent tasks;
 （4） Forcibly rushing through the warning belt or area set up by the public security organ.
 Whoever obstructs the people's police from performing their duties according to law shall be given a heavier punishment.
