Whether the car purchased by the married couple belongs to the common property depends on the specific situation. If the money for the purchase of the car belongs to the common property of the married couple, the car purchased also belongs to the common property of the married couple. The party concerned should keep the evidence of the purchase of the car with the common property of the married couple. If the money for the purchase of a vehicle belongs to the personal property of one party, the vehicle purchased belongs to the personal property, but the party concerned shall provide proof that it was purchased with personal property.
According to Article 17 of the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China, the following property acquired by a husband and wife during their marriage relationship shall be jointly owned by the husband and wife:
(1) Salary and bonus;
(2) Income from production and operation;
(3) Income from intellectual property;
(4) Property derived from inheritance or donation, except as provided for in Item 3 of Article 18 of this Law;
(5) Other properties that should be jointly owned.
Husband and wife have equal rights to dispose of jointly owned property.
