（2） The provisions on de facto marriage and cohabitation shall apply to those who live together as husband and wife without reaching the legal age of marriage or without going through the formalities of marriage registration. Those who reached the legal age of marriage before February 1, 1994 shall be treated as de facto marriages; If they reach the legal age of marriage after February 1, 1994, they should apply for marriage registration. If they do not apply for marriage registration, the marriage will be invalid and will be treated as cohabitation.
Article 6 of the Marriage Law: The age of marriage shall not be earlier than 22 for men and 20 for women. Late marriage and late childbirth should be encouraged.
