    What punishment will be imposed for stealing electricity? To recover the electricity charge, a fine of less than 5 times of the stolen electricity charge shall be imposed. According to Article 101 of the Power Supply Business Rules, it is prohibited to steal electricity. The acts of stealing electricity include: (1) connecting and using electricity without authorization on the power supply facilities of power supply enterprises; (2) Use electricity by bypassing the electricity metering device of the power supply enterprise; (3) Forge or open the seal of the electricity metering device sealed by the power supply enterprise to use electricity; (4) Deliberately damage the power metering device of the power supply enterprise; (5) Deliberately make the electricity metering device of the power supply enterprise inaccurate or invalid; (6) Use other methods to steal electricity. Article 103 The amount of electricity stolen shall be determined according to the following methods: (1) If the power supply facilities of a power supply enterprise are connected without authorization to use electricity, the amount of electricity stolen shall be calculated and determined by multiplying the rated capacity of the privately connected equipment (kilovolt amperes are regarded as kilowatts) by the actual use time; (2) In case of stealing electricity by other acts, the stolen electricity shall be calculated and determined by multiplying the capacity (kilovolt amperes as kW) referred to in the rated current value of the billing electricity meter (if the current limiter is installed in pairs, the current limiter shall be set) by the actual stolen time. If the time of power theft cannot be ascertained, the number of days of power theft shall be at least 180 days, and the daily time of power theft shall be 12 hours for power users; Lighting users are calculated as per 6 hours.
