1. Field survey by the transportation department. The traffic police department shall require the party concerned or the witness to sign on the site map after reviewing the site investigation record. For the purpose of inspection, the vehicle causing the accident and the relevant documents of the party concerned can be detained.
 2. Identification of traffic accident responsibility by the transportation department. After investigation, the traffic police department shall determine the responsibility of the party according to the role of the party's behavior in the traffic accident and the seriousness of the fault.
 3. The transportation department shall organize compensation mediation. After confirming the end of the treatment of the injured or determining the damage result, if the accident party agrees to conduct compensation mediation, the traffic police department can organize mediation. The number of mediation is generally no more than 2 times. If mediation fails, fill in the Mediation Termination Statement and inform the parties to bring a lawsuit to the people's court within the statutory limitation period. They may also bring a suit directly to the people's court without applying for mediation.
 4. Bring a lawsuit to the people's court. If you entrust a lawyer or bring a lawsuit to a people's court on your own, you usually bring a lawsuit in the basic people's court where the accident occurred. During the court hearing, the parties may mediate under the auspices of the court and reach a mediation agreement. If mediation fails, the court shall make a judgment according to law.
