Granddaughters have no obligation to support their grandparents, but the law stipulates that grandchildren and grandchildren who can afford it have the obligation to support grandparents whose children have died or whose children are unable to support them. That is, if the child is alive and capable of being supported, the grandchildren and grandchildren shall not assume the obligation of support.
Article 1074 of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China stipulates that grandparents and maternal grandparents who are able to afford it have the obligation to bring up minor grandchildren and grandchildren whose parents have died or whose parents are unable to bring them up.
Grandchildren and grandchildren who can afford it shall have the obligation to support their grandparents whose children have died or whose children are unable to support them.
