1) A detention house is an organ for detaining criminal suspects who have been arrested or detained according to law. For a criminal sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment, if the remaining term of the sentence is less than three months before he is handed over for execution of his criminal punishment, the detention house shall execute it on his behalf. The task of the detention center is to carry out armed vigilance and guard against the criminal suspects in custody according to the national laws to ensure safety; Educate suspects; Manage the life and health of criminal suspects; Ensure the smooth progress of investigation, prosecution and trial.
 2) Prison is the national penalty execution organ. In accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Law and the Criminal Procedure Law, criminals sentenced to death with a two-year suspension of execution, life imprisonment or fixed-term imprisonment shall execute their sentences in prison. Prisons apply the principle of combining punishment with reform, and combining education with labor to transform criminals into law-abiding citizens.

 Article 2 of the Regulations on Detention Centers is an organ for detaining criminals who have been arrested or detained in accordance with the law. Criminals sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than one year, or whose remaining sentence is not more than one year, and who cannot be sent to a place of reform through labour for execution, may also be supervised by a detention house.
