According to Article 25 of the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China, children born out of wedlock enjoy the same rights as children born in wedlock, and no one may harm or discriminate against them.
A natural father or mother who does not directly support a child born out of wedlock shall bear the living and educational expenses of the child until the child can live independently. A child may, when necessary, ask any of his parents for a reasonable request in excess of the amount originally set in the agreement or judgment.
