The deposit will be refunded when you withdraw from the marriage. In law, engagement is a kind of contractual behavior, which is a kind of identity contract. This identity contract has several characteristics:
 1. The engagement shall not be signed as an agent, otherwise it will not have legal effect; In other words, the marriage contract can be established only when both men and women agree with each other.
 2. Only those who have the legal capacity for engagement can engage in engagement. The legal definition of the ability to engage is based on age: a man is 17 years old and a woman is 15 years old. If an engagement is made in violation of this provision, it is not invalid, but the party concerned or the legal representative may request the court to revoke it. For minors under the age of 20, their engagement must be approved by their legal representatives.
 3. The engagement shall not be enforced. Although the engagement should be observed, it should also comply with the wishes of both parties. If one party fails to perform, it cannot be enforced. The dissolution of an engagement is different from the breach of an engagement. The breach of engagement is unilateral, and the dissolution of engagement can be divided into unilateral dissolution and bilateral dissolution. When both parties agree to terminate their engagement, whether they claim damages or not will be clearly defined after they make clear to each other. Unilateral dissolution must be based on the reasons specially stipulated by the law. If the other party is engaged to another person or marries another person again, the engagement can be terminated unilaterally. In addition, if one party is subject to an "interdiction declaration", that is, his or her mind is lost, or his or her spirit is weak, or he or she has sexual relations with others, the other party may consider unilateral termination. A lawful unilateral dissolution of the engagement does not constitute a breach of the engagement and is not liable for legal damages. The provisions on the age of marriage in the Marriage Law of our country are not the age of compulsory marriage, nor the optimal age of marriage, but the minimum age of marriage, which is the age limit for dividing illegal marriage and legal marriage. Only when the legal age of marriage is reached can marriage be made, otherwise it is illegal. The legal age of marriage does not prevent men and women from postponing marriage on a voluntary basis according to their own circumstances. In order to implement China's national policy of family planning, the Marriage Law also encourages late marriage and late childbearing. Some units replace the legal age of marriage with the age of marriage enjoying preferential policies. If they do not reach this age of marriage, they do not approve the marriage of both men and women, which is inappropriate. The law advocates late marriage, not forced late marriage, not that the later the marriage, the better. In order to ensure strict law enforcement on the issue of marriage age, the Regulations on the Administration of Marriage Registration stipulates that "if the party applying for marriage cannot obtain the required certificate due to interference from the unit or others, the marriage registration authority shall also register and issue a Marriage Certificate if it finds that the marriage law and these Measures are indeed met."
