The reimbursement for emergency hospitalization is different from that for outpatient hospitalization. If the emergency expenses incurred by the insured in the designated medical insurance institution are reviewed by the medical insurance management department of the designated medical institution, they will be included in the overall settlement of ordinary outpatient clinics and reimbursed. However, the emergency medical expenses incurred by the insured in the general outpatient service of the non designated medical insurance institution shall not be paid by the pooling fund. However, the difference between the two levels will not be too large, mainly depending on the project in progress. According to relevant laws and regulations, medical expenses that meet the basic medical insurance drug catalog, diagnosis and treatment items, medical service facility standards, emergency and rescue shall be paid from the basic medical insurance fund according to national regulations.

    Legal basis

Article 28 of the Full Text of the Social Insurance Law of the People's Republic of China shall be paid from the basic medical insurance fund in accordance with the state regulations for medical expenses that meet the basic medical insurance drug catalogue, diagnosis and treatment items, medical service facilities standards, and emergency and rescue.
