It is dangerous to lose your ID card, so you should report the loss in time. The resident identity card is the legal identity card of a citizen. Its main function is to prove the identity of a citizen when he or she is engaged in relevant activities. When citizens use resident identity cards to prove their identity, the departments using the relevant certificates have the obligation to check the consistency of the person and the certificate, and they can handle the relevant business for the holder only after confirmation. If the resident identity card is lost and used by others, the imposter and relevant departments shall bear corresponding legal responsibilities, and the person who lost the certificate shall not be responsible for his/her own acts.
 The Law of the People's Republic of China on Resident Identity Cards also clearly stipulates that anyone who falsely uses another person's resident identity card shall be fined not less than 200 yuan but not more than 1000 yuan by the public security organ, or detained not more than 10 days. Any illegal gains, if any, shall be confiscated.
 Legal basis
 Article 12 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Resident Identity Cards: When citizens apply for obtaining, changing or reissuing resident identity cards, the public security organs shall handle them in a timely manner in accordance with regulations. The public security organ shall issue resident identity cards within 60 days after citizens submit the Application and Registration Form for Resident Identity Cards; In areas with inconvenient transportation, the handling time may be extended appropriately, but the extended time shall not exceed 30 days.
