The elderly can go to the local public security department to issue a death certificate when they die in another place. If they are cremated in the local place, the cremation certificate issued by the funeral home should also be kept as a proof of returning to handle the cancellation procedures.
 According to Article 8 of the Household Registration Regulations, if a citizen dies in the city before burial, and within one month in the countryside, the head of household, relatives, dependents or neighbors shall report to the household registration authority for death registration and cancellation of household registration.
 If a citizen dies in his temporary residence, the temporary residence registration authority shall notify the permanent residence registration authority to cancel his residence. If a citizen dies from an accident or the cause of death is unknown, the head of household or the discoverer shall immediately report to the local public security police station or the township or town people's committee.
