No marriage within the system does not affect promotion.
 According to the Civil Servant Law of China, civil servants should have the political quality, working ability, educational level and employment experience required by the proposed post. The leading positions of civil servants shall be promoted step by step. Those who are exceptionally excellent or whose work requires special needs may be promoted by breaking the rules or bypassing their ranks. The rank of civil servant shall be promoted level by level, and the candidates shall be determined according to their personal virtue and talent, work performance and seniority, with reference to democratic recommendation or democratic evaluation results. After being publicized, they shall be examined and approved according to their management authority. In other words, in China, freedom of marriage, whether to marry or not, is not directly related to promotion within the system.
 Legal basis
 Article 49 of the Civil Servant Law of the People's Republic of China, the rank of a civil servant shall be promoted step by step, and the candidates shall be determined according to personal virtue and talent, work performance and seniority, with reference to democratic recommendation or democratic evaluation results. After publicity, the candidates shall be examined and approved according to the management authority.
 Article 50 of the Civil Servant Law of the People's Republic of China, the position and rank of civil servants shall be able to be promoted or demoted. Adjustment shall be made to those who are unfit or incompetent for their current posts or ranks.
 If a civil servant is determined to be incompetent in the annual assessment, he shall be demoted to a post or rank according to the prescribed procedures.
