    Under the following circumstances, the payment of alimony may be reduced or exempted:
    (1) Having lost the source of income due to long-term illness or incapacity to work, and really unable to pay according to the amount determined in the original agreement or judgment, while the party who raises the child can afford it and has the ability to support it;
    (2) Being put in prison for reform due to a crime and unable to pay;
    (3) If the party who raised the child remarries, his or her spouse is willing to bear part or all of the stepchild's living expenses or education expenses, and the parent or the parent who was originally obligated to pay may appropriately reduce or exempt them.
    It is not the legal obligation of the stepfather or stepmother to bear the living or education expenses of the stepchild. If the stepfather or stepmother is unwilling to bear the expenses, the natural father or stepmother shall continue to bear the maintenance expenses.
    Article 37 of the Marriage Law stipulates that after divorce, one party shall bear part or all of the necessary living expenses and education expenses for the children raised by the other party. The amount and duration of the expenses shall be agreed by both parties; If the agreement fails, the people's court shall make a judgment.
