    According to Article 3 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Resident Identity Cards, the items registered on resident identity cards include: name, gender, nationality, date of birth, address of permanent residence, citizen identity number, personal photo, fingerprint information, validity period of the certificate and issuing authority. Citizen ID number is the unique and permanent ID code of every citizen, which is compiled by the public security organ according to the national standard for citizen ID number. When citizens apply for obtaining, changing or reissuing resident identity cards, they shall register fingerprint information. Any person who illegally changes his/her citizenship number shall be given administrative sanctions according to the seriousness of the case; If a crime is constituted, criminal responsibility shall be investigated according to law. The relevant laws and regulations are as follows: Article 20 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Resident Identity Cards, if the people's police commit one of the following acts, they shall be given administrative sanctions according to the seriousness of the circumstances; If a crime is constituted, criminal responsibility shall be investigated according to law: (1) accepting property from others or seeking other benefits by taking advantage of the convenience of making, issuing and checking resident identity cards; (2) Illegally changing the citizen's identity number, or posting information other than those specified in the first paragraph of Article 3 of this Law on the resident identity card, or deliberately posting false information; (3) Failing to issue resident identity cards within the statutory time limit without justified reasons; (4) Violating regulations to examine or detain resident identity cards, thereby infringing upon citizens' legitimate rights and interests; (5) Divulging citizens' personal information known by making, issuing, examining or detaining resident identity cards, thereby infringing upon citizens' legitimate rights and interests.
    Citizen ID number is the unique and permanent ID code of every citizen. Illegal change of ID number will be punished by law.
