The Korean aviation industry said on Friday that it would reduce fuel surcharges on international routes from next month to reflect the recent decline in aviation fuel prices. The spokesman of Korean Airlines said that from June 1, depending on the routes, the one-way ticket surcharge of the company's international routes will be reduced from the current 21000 to 161000 won to 18200 to 144100 won (about 13 dollars to 106 dollars). Asiana Airlines, the second largest airline in South Korea, said it would cut the surcharge on its international routes from the current 23000 to 125800 won to 20600 to 114100 won. Korean Airlines and Asiana Airlines said that the fuel surcharge for domestic routes would remain at the current 12100 won next month. Jeju Airlines and other low-cost airlines also plan to impose the same surcharge on domestic routes.
