From July 6 to December 6, the 2024 International Drama Season of the National Grand Theater will open again. Yesterday, the drama season held a press conference, inviting a number of participating creators to share the highlights of their works.

The National Grand Theater International Drama Season was founded in 2015. So far, it has presented 96 and 442 performances from China, Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Japan and other countries and regions. As we enter the milestone of the tenth anniversary, this drama season will focus on the theme of "Ten Years of Drama". In 154 days, four major sections will bring together the famous dramas of China, Russia, France, Britain, Switzerland and other countries, bringing 17 sets of 62 performances.

The "Look at the World in Beijing" plate took the lead. From July 6 to July 14, the drama season of Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream, two reserved plays of the National Grand Theater, will start at the Beijing Arts Center. Among them, the newly produced "Midsummer Night's Dream" will make full use of the advantages of the open-air theater of Beijing Art Center to enhance the interaction of the audience and bring visual wonders. In addition to Shakespeare's classic, works of Chinese and foreign philologists such as Hugo, Tennessee Williams, Lao She and Liu Zhenyun will also be put on the stage. The "All Men's Class" drama "Camel Xiangzi" directed by Fang Xu, one of Tian Qinxin's representative dramas "Beijing Fayuan Temple" Liu Ye The Chinese version of the drama "Les Miserables", starring Liu Zhenyun's work "One Day, Three Autumn" directed by Ding Yiteng, will all appear. In addition, "Father" produced by Shanghai Drama Art Center and "Preliminary Proof", a solo drama starring Xin Zhilei, will be performed in this section. From December 4 to 6, the classic drama "Glass Zoo" jointly presented by the drama director Ivo Van Hoff and Isabel Yuper, the "three film queen" of Cannes, Venice and Berlin Film Festival, will be the end of the whole drama season.

The "Chinese Drama · Chinese Emotion" section will vigorously demonstrate the profound charm of traditional opera. The year 2024 will be the 130th anniversary of the birth of Mei Lanfang, Mei Baojiu, the master of Peking Opera, and the 20th anniversary of the premiere of the youth version of Peony Pavilion.

The "modernity" of Beijing Art Center will continue to expand in this drama season. In the section of "Musical · Opening New Voice", the musical, an art category popular with young audiences, will make its debut on the stage of "One House and Three Sites" of the National Grand Theater. The Russian tour version of the Russian musical Anna Karenina and the original musical Cat will be sung in Beijing Arts Center in October and November. In the future, musicals will become an important feature of this new performance landmark. This drama season has also set up a new unit for the Beijing Arts Center, "Moju Festival, Wonderful". During the Mid Autumn Festival, the British Zai Drama Troupe's musical body play "Laughing Forget the Book" and the Swiss Baccarat Clown Troupe's "Happy Enemies" will be staged at the same time.

"Drama can sometimes open a wider space of expression than literature," Liu Zhenyun said.
