A Dream of Red Mansions, the peak work in the history of Chinese literature, has been disliked by me for the reason of taste discomfort and fear of affecting my temperament, but in the past 20 years, I have learned more about it from various forms of comments, quotations and adaptations than the other three masterpieces. I have read almost all the books that I know are more interesting than it, so I am willing to enjoy the scenery of this peak.

The most valuable thing about the characters depicted in A Dream of Red Mansions is that it shows the complexity of the characters' personalities. For example, Lin Daiyu's high purity and cynicism are difficult to get along with, Xue Baochai's hard work and scheming are popular, Qing Wen's strong but fierce, Wang Xifeng's insidious but shrewd and capable, which are difficult to simply define with good or bad.

For the evaluation of Bao Daichai, I would not talk about it because of my reticence and slow observation of love stories. I only talked about two secondary characters.

One is Qingwen. In my only comic book A Dream of Red Mansions when I was a child, I left an indelible impression on the three aspects of her life - her usual momentum, indignation when facing danger, and desolation when dying. It was only a few years ago that I learned that Qingwen was a unique figure in the first 80 chapters, that is, she showed her whole life in Cao Xueqin's writing, which made me instantly have a strong shock and have been more eye-catching ever since. This time, I read the original texts of "Tearing the fan to make a golden smile" and "Repairing the peacock fur", which are familiar in TV dramas. I experienced the contact between Qingwen and Jia Baoyu from far to near. I also learned for the first time the sadness behind Qingwen, and could not help lamenting her fate caused by her "too rigid and easy to break"; The second is Sister You. I also learned her story from a Peking Opera comic book. I always think that the stories of Sister You can be written independently, and Sister You is even more detached from the Jia Family. I admire her rather than like Qingwen. When rebelling against the evil forces of the Jia family, Third Sister You was more powerful and witty than Qingwen. Her last scene of committing suicide with grief and indignation brought her temperament to the extreme. However, it was this act that made me agree with Yan Hong's view of "Misreading the Red Chamber": it was not only too hasty to entrust herself to a person who did not know her at all, In my opinion, it also made my sister lose a protective barrier.

There is also a woman in the Red Chamber who needs to be mentioned. In TV dramas, I always think Shen Lin, who plays Pinger, is the most beautiful. After reading the original book, I realized that such a seemingly honest character should be worthy of that image.

In addition, only the big and small mysteries full of the first 80 chapters can be slightly interested. I have explored them one by one on the Internet. Although The Dream of Red Mansions describes the society as "seeing the big from the small" by Jia Fu, few of them directly write about the outside world, and the poetry that accounts for the largest proportion in many literary and artistic academic content is difficult for me to understand, so its appeal to me is naturally difficult to increase.
