Usually, I don't pay attention to social affairs, let alone social welfare and volunteer activities. However, on December 4 this year, the day before the International Volunteer Day, I participated in a volunteer activity.

A few days ago, the English teacher said that there was a volunteer activity on Sunday and asked us if we would like to go. I watched my friends sign up, so I signed up with the attitude of trying.

On Sunday, the sun was shining brightly. I came to the People's Square early. I found that many people had come, including more than 20 people in my class alone. The students were very excited. The little faces were red one by one, and they gathered left and right, trying to guess the content of this activity. Some people guess that it is to visit the elderly in a nursing home, some people guess that it is to help in a school for the deaf and dumb, and some people say that it may be to pick up garbage on the street to support our city to build a national health city. There are many teachers in the volunteer team, most of whom are women. One by one, they were energetic, wearing red clothes, and the words "Let love become a habit" were printed on the back of the clothes.

Everyone had a heated discussion for a while, and almost everyone was here. At this time, a female teacher whom I did not know began to organize volunteers to queue up, which was divided into five teams. Each team held a sign with different words: "Sunshine Handicap Group", "Peace Building Group". Then, an elderly waist drum team performed a part at the front. In front of them, a very energetic old woman was struggling with drums, another mother-in-law was struggling with gongs, and another group of elderly people were playing waist drums behind. The pleasant sound of gongs and drums attracted many people, surrounded us three floors inside and three floors outside, and looked at us curiously. A teacher gave each of us a plastic bag and a pair of extended chopsticks to pick up garbage during the parade. Finally, the waist drum team walked out of the square, and we followed closely.

On the road, the waist drum team played drums while walking. We shouted slogans while picking up garbage. The moving vehicles stopped to make way for us. Some people even gave us thumbs up, while others applauded us.

Our route is: Jinning Road → Dongjiang Road → Yang'an Road → Xinghua Road, walking around the busiest street in our city, and finally returning to the square. In the square, everyone took several photos together before they disbanded and went home.

Through this activity, I felt the happiness of participating in collective activities, and felt that although I was tired of paying for the society and other people, the satisfaction and sincere happiness were so beautiful! I will take an active part in similar activities in the future.
