Facing Childhood Bravely

"Books are the ladder of human progress." This is a famous saying of Gorky, a great writer of the former Soviet Union. Gorky in his childhood, because he loved reading, books opened wonderful new worlds in front of him and brought him a lot of fun and truth. Gorky has many books, and reading his books is always rewarding. Recently, I read his Childhood, which is the first of Gorky's famous autobiographical trilogy.

This book examines the society and people at that time from the unique perspective of a child, vividly represents the process of corruption, decline and extinction of the entire former Soviet Union at that time, reflects the author's unremitting pursuit of light and truth through my painful childhood experience, and shows a broad social picture of Russian society at the end of the 19th century.

"After the darkness, the sun will come out". This book tells the growth story of "I". From the death of my father to the arrival of my grandmother to a suffocating family, to the fact that "I" made friends with many different people, many stories happened, and finally to the death of my mother, "I" went to the world to live independently. In my childhood, "I" was full of fear and anxiety, and suffered a lot of humiliation, abuse and even beatings. But the kindness and optimism of my grandmother, the integrity of the old worker Gregory, and the good spirit of dedication to science gave "me" courage and strength, encouraged "me" to always maintain confidence in life, and gradually grew into a strong, brave, optimistic and caring person.

It is said that childhood is happy, beautiful and free, but Gorky does not have such a childhood. How happy we are living in the new era. And then our happiness comes? It was our ancestors who gave blood and sacrificed for it. We must cherish the happy childhood life and inherit the spirit of the revolutionary predecessors. No matter how great difficulties and setbacks we encounter, we must face them bravely, work hard, strive constantly, rely on our own continuous efforts to realize the dream of a better life, and make our own contributions to the country and society in the future.
