Recently, I read a book, "Controlling Habits". It seems that there is not so much truth philosophy. In the book, I use examples to illustrate each point of view, and then summarize it to let the readers understand more deeply. For this book, I will simply sort it out and take notes.

Control the habit. What is the habit? I understand that the habit is a kind of imperceptible behavior. Just like walking, you take the left foot first. Because repetition is naturally displayed, like an automated program, and you don't need to care about it deliberately, you can complete things, just like you will deliberately think about which foot I should take when walking, no, And they don't care about it at all; Habits can lighten your thinking, allow you to focus on other things, and create freedom of thought.

Everything has good or bad habits, and that habit also has good habits and bad habits: for good habits, of course, we want to persist; For bad habits, we want to make changes. However, in the process of changing habits, we always want to achieve quick success. Finally, the past turns out to be contrary to our wishes. The book explains how to form a habit:

1、 Four Steps to Habit Formation

After years of research, the author found that the process of forming habits can be divided into four simple steps: prompt, craving, response and reward, in which a strong behavioral system can be established.

1. Tips: In short, it is to remind myself by some external information. For example, if I want to keep running, I can write notes, memos, and tips from friends;

2. Desire: This is the driving force behind and the reason for taking action. The driving force for running is that I want to be thin and strong;

3. Response.

4. Reward: Response will bring rewards, and getting rewards is the ultimate goal of every habit. Just as running can improve your health and the success rate of dating,

2、 Four Laws of Habit Formation

For the above four steps, the author transforms it into a practical framework -- the four laws of habit formation:

1. Make it obvious

Among the five senses of sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing, the strongest stool is vision, which is always felt by us carelessly and gives some information. For example, there is a glass of water on the table and you will drink it even if you are not thirsty. For example, if you pull up a banner on the street, you will also look at it unconsciously. Therefore, any habit must put something in the obvious place, Make it a part of life. For example, the toothbrush and toothpaste must be near the washbasin.

2. Make it attractive

Attraction is very important. If there is no attraction, you will have no interest. If there is no interest, there will be no motivation. For example, the game will die before it starts. For players, the galloping of the game world makes it easier for them to get satisfaction. It attracts you to start unconsciously all the time.

3. Make it easy

It's human nature to save effort. Many people like to gain the most with the least effort. For example, playing mobile phones, watching TV and so on occupy most of our life time. Because they are the most labor-saving and attractive, when we need to form a habit, we must make it simple to the extreme. Even if we don't like it, we can always adhere to it.

4. Make it pleasant

When pain and comfort are put in front of us, we tend to be comfortable and easy to accept. For example, children like candy. If you tell them to finish their homework, they will have candy to eat. If you want to form a habit, it must be pleasant and full of fun, so that it can be accepted and persisted.

At the same time, we can also do the opposite and change bad habits. The general starting point of these four laws is around people's psychological and physiological characteristics. They are mainly to conform to human nature, rather than requiring us to use reason to control ourselves. Only in this way can we really form good habits. The book explains them through various examples and tables, At last, the book mentioned the secret of lasting success. Keep making progress and never stop. Don't ignore small changes. Use small changes to achieve remarkable results.
