There are 6 eyes on both sides of the head, with short antennae and strong palate. The feces are poisonous. Some caterpillars have other common names, such as inchworm, silkworm and army worm (the larva of a star slime worm). Melicola larvae are also found in other insects, such as Mecoptera and Hymenoptera.
