There is no distinction between arts and sciences. The examination subjects are Chinese, mathematics, foreign languages and three elective subjects. The three elective subjects can be selected from seven subjects, namely physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, geography and technology. Foreign language subjects include English, Japanese, Russian, German, French and Spanish. Candidates can choose any one of them, and most of them choose English.
There is only one chance to take the Chinese and Maths examination. The examination time is in June every year (only for senior three students), and the results are valid that year. There are two opportunities for foreign language teaching in January or June, and the results are valid in the same year. Foreign language scores are used for both academic level grades (academic examinations) and college entrance examinations, and for academic examinations. Their qualifications, test dates, and grading methods are the same as those of other academic subjects; It is used for college entrance examination, and its score is included in the total score of college entrance examination with the actual score on the paper, just like Chinese mathematics. The grades of the two examinations and the scores included in the college entrance examination are used once by the students.
The examinees' scores in all subjects are graded according to their grades. The starting point is 40 points, and the full score is 100 points. There are 21 grades in total. The difference of each grade is 3 points. Grade designation is based on the scores of each subject and the closest cumulative proportion, of which the proportion of the 21st grade is not more than 1%.
