Academic degree graduate students are generally full-time, while professional degree graduate students' learning methods are also divided into full-time and part-time. The following editor will introduce you to the differences between full-time professional degrees and full-time academic degrees.
Differences between professional masters and academic masters
1. Different training objectives
The academic master is set up according to disciplines, which is oriented by academic research, lays particular emphasis on theory and research, and cultivates academic research talents.
Professional masters and academic masters are at the same level, with different emphasis on training specifications and obvious differences in training objectives.
The outstanding feature of professional master education is the close combination of academic type and professionalism. The people who obtain professional degrees are not mainly engaged in academic research, but engaged in work with obvious professional background, such as engineers, doctors, teachers, lawyers, accountants, etc. This is a professional practice oriented training mode that attaches importance to practice and application and cultivates high-level talents who have received formal and high-level training in specialty and expertise.
2. Different cultivation methods
The curriculum of academic masters focuses on strengthening the study of basic theories and cultivating students' ability and quality to engage in scientific research and innovation.
The professional master's curriculum is oriented to practical application, targeted at professional needs, and centered on the improvement of comprehensive literacy and applied knowledge and ability. The teaching content emphasizes the organic combination of theoretical and applied courses, highlighting case analysis and practical research; The teaching process emphasizes the use of team learning, case analysis, field research, simulation training and other methods; Pay attention to cultivating students' awareness and ability to study practical problems. In the specific learning process, it is required to have at least half a year of practice, and the proportion of practice credits is greater than academic degrees.
3. Different application conditions
Academic Master:
(1) Newly graduated undergraduates with nationally recognized academic qualifications (including graduates from ordinary colleges and universities, adult colleges and universities, adult higher education held by ordinary colleges and universities), self-study examinations and online education can graduate undergraduates at that time. Candidates must obtain a nationally recognized undergraduate diploma or a Certificate of Foreign Academic Degrees issued by the Overseas Studies Service Center of the Ministry of Education before entering the university in the year of admission (the specific period is specified by the admission unit), otherwise the admission qualification will be invalid.
(2) A person with a bachelor's degree recognized by the state.
(3) Those who have obtained a nationally recognized higher vocational college graduation degree for two years or more (from graduation to the date of admission, the same below), as well as those who have completed undergraduate courses with a nationally recognized degree, and who meet the specific academic requirements of the recruitment unit for candidates according to the training objectives of the unit, shall apply for the examination as graduates with the same academic qualifications.
(4) Persons who have obtained master's or doctor's degrees.
Graduate students in school must obtain the consent of their training unit before applying for the examination.
Professional Master
In addition to meeting the basic requirements for applicants to participate in the national postgraduate entrance examination, some professional degree masters have separate provisions.
For example, those who apply for a master's degree in law (non law) should be aware that their major is non law (graduates of law [code 0301] in the law category of the undergraduate specialty catalog of ordinary colleges and universities, graduates of law at the junior college level, and graduates of law in the self-study examination format are not allowed to apply).
Those who apply for a master's degree in law (law) can apply for an examination if their major is law (only graduates of law [code 0301] in the category of law in the undergraduate specialty catalogue of ordinary colleges and universities, graduates of law at the junior college level, graduates of law in the form of self-study examination, and those who have obtained the second bachelor's degree in law can apply for an examination).

5. Different dispensing requirements
The basic condition for candidates to transfer is that the preliminary examination subjects are the same or similar to the preliminary examination subjects of the transfer in specialty, and the unified examination subjects of the preliminary examination are the same as the unified examination subjects of the transfer in specialty. The examination subjects of the master students can generally cover the preliminary examination subjects of the master students, so the transfer is generally from the master students to the master students.
6. Different difficulty in admission
For most majors, professional masters are slightly less difficult than academic masters. Professional master's public course English subjects more than English two, relatively small difficulty; It is difficult to take the English Test 1 for the public English subject of academic master.
The majority of professional masters do not take part in the public mathematics course or the comprehensive ability test of mathematics III and economics, so the difficulty is relatively small; It is very difficult to take Math 1, Math 2, Math 3, Math (Agriculture) or the enrollment unit's self appointed physical mathematics test for the public mathematics subject of academic master.
7. Different tuition standards
The charging standard for academic masters, starting from the autumn semester of 2014, should not exceed 8000 yuan per year for master students and 10000 yuan per year for doctoral students in principle.
The charging standard for full-time professional masters shall be determined according to the charging standard not higher than the current charging standard for academic self funded postgraduates of ordinary majors (schools without academic self funded postgraduates of ordinary majors shall refer to the relevant charging standards for similar majors of other local universities).
8. Different educational system
Specifically, the professional master's education system is generally 2-3 years, and the academic master's education system is generally 3 years. The specific situation shall be subject to the policies of each enrollment unit in that year.
9. Different tutor systems
Academic master with single tutor system. In terms of basic functions, graduate tutors provide students with graduate curriculum teaching, project research guidance and dissertation guidance. In terms of guidance content, graduate tutors guide the whole process of their graduate students during their postgraduate study. After the completion of the graduate thesis, the instructor shall make an objective, comprehensive and accurate evaluation of the graduate student, and be responsible for applying to the tutor group for review and approval, submitting it to the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of the Institute, and applying for organizing the defense.
Professional master, with double tutor system. According to the spirit of the relevant documents of the Ministry of Education, the professional degree postgraduate training units should establish and improve the two tutor system inside and outside the school, focusing on the guidance of the tutors inside the school, and the tutors outside the school should participate in the guidance of the practice process, project research, courses and papers and other links. In the process of training, the on campus tutors mainly teach theoretical knowledge and academic guidance, while the off campus tutors mainly train skills and guide practice.
10. Dissertations are different
The academic master's thesis, which emphasizes scientific theory research and original academic innovation, is generally academic.
Professional master's theses can be applied in a variety of forms. We encourage the use of research reports, planning and design, product development, case studies, project management, literary and artistic works and other forms.
11. Different ways of reading blogs
An academic master can directly study for a doctoral degree through his or her tutor without taking part in the national unified examination, which is what we call direct doctoral or master doctoral continuous study.
In general, professional masters are not allowed to have a master's or doctoral degree. If you want to take a doctoral exam after graduation, please consult the enrollment unit for relevant policies.
