Beidaihe used to be a small fishing village located at the north end of the river, so it is called Beidaihe. It is located in Hebei Province. The main disasters of Beidaihe are floods and droughts. The most serious economic loss was 12 million yuan. During the drought period of 2000, about 400 hectares of crops were lost.
Beidaihe is a sea. Why is it called a river?
Beidaihe was originally a small fishing village in the upper reaches of the Dai River. The small fishing village is at the north end of the Dai River, so it is called Beidaihe Village. People began to use Beidaihe to refer to this coast. Beidaihe belongs to Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, and is located in the northeast of Hebei Province and the southwest of Qinhuangdao City.
Natural disasters in Beidaihe
The rainstorm occurs 2.5 times a year on average, and the most serious one occurred in 1993. The rainstorm hit the whole region with hail. The maximum wind force is more than 10, and the rainfall is 50.5 mm. There are more than 100 buildings whose roofs have been completely and partially torn off by the gale. The affected area of crops is 133.33 hectares, and the direct economic loss is more than 12 million yuan.
The most serious drought disaster occurred in 2000. The annual precipitation was only 515.20 mm. The precipitation in June and September was 17.70 mm and 16.50 mm respectively. Grain crops dominated by corn suffered 840.67 hectares, of which 426.40 hectares were lost and 414.27 hectares were lost by more than 50%.
