It is rare for triploid babies to be born alive. They usually die within a few hours after birth, and only a few children survive for a few days. It was reported in the literature that 5 cases survived for 2 to 7 months. In the first three months of pregnancy, most spontaneous abortions occur, which is related to the chromosome aberration of the fetus. This paper reports a case of 69, XXY triploid male infant who survived for 10 and a half months, which is the longest survival time ever reported.
Triploid means that each cell has three complete sets of chromosome groups, namely 3n, that is, each chromosome number has three identical individuals. Since 1960, only 10 cases have been recorded in humans, with karyotypes of 69, XXX, 69, XXY, 69, XYY and their chimeras or heterologous chimeras formed with diploids. The chromosome number of human triploid is doubled, which is a kind of stain
