Suzhou belongs to Jiangsu Province. It is a prefecture level city in Jiangsu Province. It is a national historic and cultural city, a scenic tourist city, a national high-tech industrial base, and one of the important central cities in the Yangtze River Delta.
Suzhou, located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province and the middle of the Yangtze River Delta, is an important part of Jiangsu Yangtze River Economic Belt. It borders Shanghai to the east, Jiaxing to the south, Taihu Lake to the west, and the Yangtze River to the north. It has a subtropical monsoon marine climate with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall. Planting rice, wheat and rape, it produces cotton, silkworm, forest fruit, and its specialties include Biluochun tea, Yangtze River swordfish, Taihu whitebait, Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs, etc.
It is one of the first 24 national historic and cultural cities in China. With a history of nearly 2500 years, it is the birthplace of Wu culture. Suzhou garden is the representative of Chinese private gardens and listed as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO. The Suzhou section of the Grand Canal of China was included in the World Heritage List.
