Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, founded in 1983, formerly known as Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, was renamed as Guangdong Business School in 1985. On June 19, 2013, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Business School was renamed as Guangdong University of Finance and Economics. It is now jointly built by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of Justice of the People's Republic of China. It is an institution of higher learning with teaching characteristics of law and business, and one of the key universities in Guangdong Province.
It is a financial undergraduate college with economics, management, law as the main body and coordinated development of economics, management, law, arts, science, engineering, art and other disciplines. It is a provincial key university, the first university of finance and economics in South China, an important economic, management and law talent training base and scientific research base in Guangdong and South China, and the first higher education institution in mainland China with business and law as its teaching characteristics.
