The history of Yunnan Agricultural University can be traced back to the establishment of Yunnan Agricultural College in 1907, and the establishment of Agricultural College of National Yunnan University in 1938, located in Chenggong County, Kunming City; In 1958, Kunming Institute of Agriculture and Forestry was established independently and relocated to Heilongtan, the northern suburb of Kunming. In 1962, South Yunnan University and West Yunnan University were merged into Kunming Institute of Agriculture and Forestry. In 1969, they moved to Binchuan County, Dali Prefecture, and in 1970, they moved to Xundian County, the original Qujing Prefecture. In 1971, they merged with Yunnan Agricultural University to establish Yunnan Agricultural University. In 1980, they moved back to Heilongtan, the northern suburb of Kunming. In 2004, Yunnan Construction Engineering School and Yunnan Flavor Research and Development Center were incorporated into Yunnan Agricultural University. In 2014, Yunnan Tropical Crops Vocational College was incorporated into Yunnan Agricultural University.
