Chongqing Jiaotong University is one university, not two. Chongqing Jiaotong University, located in Chongqing, is a multi-disciplinary university with distinctive traffic characteristics and focusing on engineering jointly built by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China. It has been selected into the National Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China and the Education and Training Plan for Outstanding Engineers.
Introduction to the expansion of Chongqing Jiaotong University
1、 History
In 1951, Southwest Jiaotong College, the predecessor of Chongqing Jiaotong University, was officially established. According to Chairman Mao's instructions, the Southwest Military and Political Commission led by Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping established the school to build the Kangxi Tibet Highway and the Southwest China, which opened the school running process of Chongqing Jiaotong University.
In 1960, the Civil Engineering Department of Chengdu Institute of Technology, the Hydraulic Engineering Department of Wuhan Water Transport University, and the Metallurgy Department of Sichuan Metallurgy Institute moved to Chongqing Highway Engineering School in Sichuan Province to jointly establish Chongqing Institute of Transportation.
In 2000, the university was transferred from the Ministry of Transport to Chongqing for management, and was jointly built by the province and the ministry.
In February 2006, with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Chongqing Jiaotong University was renamed Chongqing Jiaotong University. In the following 14 years, the college has been successively selected into the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan, the universities supported by the basic capacity construction project of colleges and universities in the central and western regions, and the members of the Belt and Road China Poland University Alliance.

Chongqing Jiaotong University is located in Chongqing. Chongqing Jiaotong University is quite perfect in campus construction. At present, it has three campuses, Nan'an, Shuangfu and Daping, covering an area of more than 3000 mu, with a building area of more than 830000 square meters, a collection of more than 4.4 million paper and electronic documents, more than 1500 journals, more than 100 databases in Chinese and foreign languages, and a total value of 439 million yuan in teaching and scientific research equipment, It has one national and six municipal experimental teaching demonstration centers, providing first-class school running services for 30000 teachers and students.
