1、 Overview

2、 Material preparation

Here we use this picture as the material of matting. Let's demonstrate the process of matting step by step and change the background for it.

3、 Matting process

1. Open the material

The first step, of course, is to open this picture material with PS.

2. Copy channel

Open the channel tab, press the small eyes in front of each channel to display the red, green and blue channels in turn, and observe which channel has more obvious light and dark contrast. Here, we find that the light and dark contrast of the blue channel is more obvious, then we can right click to copy, and create a copy of the blue channel, as shown in the figure.

3. Adjust the color scale

Open Image - Adjust - Color Scale, turn the low color scale up and the high color scale down to make the light and shade contrast of the image more obvious, and click OK.

4. Dilution and deepening

Switch to the fade or deepen tool. First, we switch to the fade tool, select highlights in the range, and directly smear the bright and white parts of the picture. At this time, we will find that the brighter parts are all faded to white, as shown in the figure.

Then switch to the deepening tool, select the shadow range, directly smear the figure, and smear all the figures into black, as shown in the figure

5. Brush repair

At this time, we will find that almost all the characters have become black, but there are some small flaws. A small part has not yet become black. It doesn't matter. Switch to the brush tool, select black color, and let's fill the part that has not become black.

6. Reverse inspection

Press Ctrl+I to switch the picture to the reverse direction, and fill the black and white parts with the brush tool again to ensure that the black and white parts are clear.

7. Pick out the characters

Press and hold the Ctrl key, move the mouse to the small icon of the layer and click, that is, the area in the red box in the figure. Click once to select the outline of the figure.

Restore all RGB channels of the layer and switch to the layer panel

Press Ctrl+J to copy the contents of the selected area to a new layer. At this time, we will find a new layer with transparent background. (Press P.S. for the first time and it will not take effect. You can try to press P.S. for the second time. I see a copy here, and then the picture with transparent background.)

8. Change background

Let's create a new layer under this layer and fill it with the color we want. Let's see the effect. Here I set the gray and white gradient effect.

9. Remove white edges

Select the character layer and select Layer - Trimming - Remove White Edge to remove the edge interference.
