From "loser culture" to "AI data gold mine": the 19 year love hate history of Reddit, an American post bar, and the story of new capital The battle between 3 million US retail investors and Wall Street in 2021 was once jaw dropping. The "American Post Bar" Reddit, a group of retail investors and grassroots cultural headquarters of Wall Street Bets, finally went public in 2024: from the role of beating Wall Street violently, it turned into begging for recognition from Wall Street. Surprisingly, Reddit, which was despised by Wall Street, showed brilliant indicators in its first financial report after listing, telling a new story of AI and starting a new journey of cooperation with technology giants such as OpenAI and Google. However, this has not dispelled the curse of commercialization of Reddit as a gathering place of grassroots users: the management has confronted users for 19 years, the moon and sixpence, commercialization and users, Can Reddit balance? In this video, we interviewed Reddit's WSB OG users and Wall Street fund people who participated in the listing of Reddit, and talked in depth about the challenges and contradictions of Reddit, a wonderful American community, around its 19 year internal conflicts, business model and new AI stories.
