The prices of rutile and garnet, for example, rose nearly 100% over the previous year, and garnet also rose about 30%. However, the growth rate of ordinary quality crystals or relatively popular varieties of crystals is not large.

It is tourmaline that has gone up in price. Generally speaking, ordinary tourmalines are calculated by grams, but high-quality tourmalines are calculated by carats just like diamonds. Now, this high-quality tourmaline has risen from 50 discounts/carat two years ago to 200 discounts/carat now, quadrupling in just two years. This price is 40 times that of gold.

The value of all kinds of gemstones is also rising. "Now the prices of rubies, sapphires and emeralds are rising," said Bao Hongming.

Bao Hongming's statement was recognized by Xie Yidong, the office director of Zhejiang Jewelry and Jade Industry Association. "It is true that there has been a rise to a certain extent, especially for high quality crystals and gemstones, which is mainly due to the rise in human costs. For example, when I went to a place of origin some time ago, the local human costs have gone from hundreds of yuan to nearly 2000 yuan now. In addition, good crystals and gemstones are relatively scarce, which is also a factor in the price rise."

Joining Crystal started with 100000 yuan

The stock market is so bad and the price of gold is high. Since the market of high-grade spar is so good now, is it feasible to buy some as a franchise?

"It's OK to join, but it's not always possible to open a shop when you buy crystal. It depends on the size and clarity of the crystal you buy. Even the very common white crystal, if it is a large crystal ball with good clarity, it may be valuable, but if you just buy a bracelet or something, it's not meaningful," Xie Yidong said.

If you want to join, you have to find big things, which also means that the franchisees need to have some funds. "More than 100000 yuan is definitely needed. Some good materials may be worth millions or tens of millions of yuan."

Of course, there is no large-scale crystal producing area in Zhejiang. If you want to join Crystal, Xie Yidong suggests that you can go to Donghai, Jiangsu, where there are large-scale crystal industrial bases and trading centers.
