As a volunteer of the Western Plan, the most frequently asked question is why do you want to give up more excellent job opportunities and choose the Western Plan?
For me, there are two reasons. One is the volunteer atmosphere at school. When I was a junior, I often talked with the seniors and sisters of the Western Plan volunteers who were serving, listened to them share interesting stories and experiences, and saw the call to "go to the west, to the grassroots, to the place where the motherland needs most", which basically confirmed the idea of volunteering to serve the west. Another reason is to change the way to realize the ambition of becoming a "national public servant", and change the way to realize my life value.
Fortunately, I made an oath speech on behalf of 479 volunteers of the 2023 Western Plan at the expedition ceremony of volunteers of the Western Plan in Anhui Province. After that, I came to Feixi, which opened my "first experience in the workplace". After joining, my first step was to read past information and visit 23 villages (communities). Having studied and worked here for 6 months, I also felt the charm of engaging in rural revitalization at the grass-roots level.
As a "propagandist", I choose to fight in the front line of gathering and writing. As far as publicity work is concerned, it's OK to take photos, write articles and do public accounts. But I think it's not good for a college student who has just left campus to really engage in publicity work at the grass-roots level. Taking oneself as an example, we all know that rural revitalization depends on industry, and industrial development depends on characteristics. With industrial characteristics, how to promote them? Fengle mainly develops three industries: rice industry, lotus root industry and dried soy sauce industry. I witnessed the "life" of rice here, and knew where the "high" of high standard farmland and the "wisdom" of smart farmland in Fengle Town are. I decided to promote the industrial characteristics.
Through Fengle's lotus industry, I can feel the beauty of the 10000 mu lotus base. In addition, when collecting information about lotus root industry, I had exchanges with professional lotus root digging people. At five o'clock in the morning, they took the equipment into the deep of the lotus pond. After the high-pressure water gun rushed down the lotus leaf, they squatted in the water and searched for the position of the lotus root with their hands. Half of their faces were close to the water. After determining the position of the lotus root, the right hand quickly used a water gun to wash the mud around the lotus root. In just over 30 seconds, a complete lotus root was dug out. Wang Shichun, the lotus root digger, told me, "You must be careful when digging lotus roots, because the knots cannot be broken, otherwise you can't sell them if you get into mud and water." The dug lotus roots can't be salvaged on the shore for the time being. Before the arrival of the cold chain logistics vehicle, the lotus root digger will go into the water again, gather the floating lotus roots on the bag, and then drag the bag full of lotus roots slowly to the shore. When we went deep into them, we were not only touched by their hard work, but also by their simple spirit.
Industrial development needs information promotion to attract traffic, but Fengle also has many aspects besides agricultural industry development, such as demolition and resettlement, private enterprise development, folk culture activities, and helping the elderly and kindergartens. It needs to learn relevant knowledge bit by bit, and then extract good models, good experience and good practices to form publicity information. After six months of propaganda work, I really learned a lot of professional knowledge that I didn't know before.
As a "science popularization worker", he is active in the front line of science popularization. The propaganda work of the Association for Science and Technology is to send popular science knowledge to the people, which requires us to reach out to many people and strive to solve the people's urgent problems. For example, nowadays, UAVs are used to sow seeds and fertilizers, and whether the use of UAVs needs training. At present, young people are always curious about scientific knowledge, whether it is necessary for them to answer questions, and the physical and mental health of the elderly need urgent attention. During the "National Science Popularization Day", with the support and cooperation of multiple departments, we focused on the theme of science and technology helping rural revitalization, youth science popularization, and silver age science popularization. We organized more than 60 science popularization series activities in government departments, villages (communities), and provided a variety of science popularization services to the public in the area, serving more than 1000 people in total, Finally, it was rated as the excellent organization unit of the 2023 National Science Popularization Day in Anhui Province.
As a "volunteer", stick to the front line of service. I am a volunteer of the Western Plan. Volunteer service is what I love. During my work, I actively responded to the call of the town Youth League Committee, and as a young volunteer, I provided volunteer service guarantee for various activities. I participated in the service guarantee national meteorological conference and smart agriculture service on-site meeting, Hefei's celebration of the 2023 "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival", straw burning ban, "Double Festival" traffic safety, etc. At the volunteer service site, I can not only act as a lecturer to promote the characteristic agricultural tourism industry of Fengle Town, but also act as a recorder to keep original records and summaries of important activities and events. I promote the volunteer spirit of "dedication, fraternity, mutual assistance and progress" in the front line of rural revitalization, and convey the temperature and feelings of volunteers with youth and dreams.
In my work, I also have my own feelings and thoughts. Working in Feixi has really made me feel the warmth of home. Here, there are leaders who take pains to teach me how to behave, cultivate my ability to take exams, guide my work, colleagues who care more about me in my daily work and life, and volunteer partners who share the same ideals. There are ten volunteers for the Western Plan in Feixi. Although they are located in different towns, the distance is not a problem with the network. During the service period, we helped each other, appropriately "supported" and "demolished", and the atmosphere was cheerful.
For me, this service experience is a kind of precipitation. Just entered the social melting pot, I don't know how to move forward. In the past few years as a volunteer of the Western Plan, I have not only experienced the splendor of life in advance, but also learned the ability and character required by the society in advance to better adapt to the future official work.
Finally, I also want to encourage you to strengthen your study and improve yourself. My work requires me to constantly strengthen theoretical learning, and I need to learn the Party's innovative theory, current politics and so on every day.
The working attitude of "throwing myself down" and the learning spirit of "asking for trouble" have made me quickly change from a naive college student to a grass-roots staff member with courage to face difficulties, which is a kind of growth. In the future, I will use youth and wisdom to help grass-roots development, and strive to release youth dreams and realize the value of life.
