On July 27, 2016, Guangxi University Students' Volunteer Service for the West planned to go on an expedition in Guangxi Economic Management Cadre College. A total of 430 volunteers from Guangdong, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangxi and other provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) will go to 20 state-level poverty-stricken counties in Guangxi to carry out 1 to 3 years of volunteer services in education, health care, agricultural science and technology, rural distance education and so on.

Since the recruitment and dispatch work of the 2016 Guangxi University Students Volunteer Service Western Plan was launched in April this year, more than 5000 college students across the country have actively signed up to participate. In order to do a good job in service management and ensure the work and life of volunteers, relevant departments have taken a series of effective measures: 2083 yuan of living allowance is given to volunteers every month to effectively solve the problem of volunteer accommodation; Purchase comprehensive personal accident insurance for each volunteer; Leave is reserved for volunteers to improve themselves, such as preparing for the civil service exam; The joint venture will hold a job fair to facilitate volunteers to work after they finish their volunteer work.

The year 2016 is the 14th year for the Guangxi Volunteer Service Western Plan. Over the past 14 years, Guangxi has sent more than 7000 outstanding fresh college graduates and graduate students to the west to carry out volunteer service activities such as supporting education, medicine and agriculture. Nearly half of the volunteers took root at the grass-roots level in Guangxi after their service expired, making positive contributions to the promotion of local economic and social development.
