More than 300 volunteers from Guangdong went to 70 counties to provide volunteer services for poverty alleviation

On July 21, the 2016 Guangdong University Student Volunteer Service Western (Mountain Area) Program volunteer expedition ceremony was held at Guangdong Youth Vocational College.

186 volunteers for the Western Plan and 184 volunteers for the Mountain Plan will go to 8 central and western provinces and autonomous regions such as Tibet, Xinjiang and Guangxi, and 70 relatively poor counties in eastern and northwestern Guangdong to carry out volunteer work for a period of 1-3 years.

At the ceremony, Zhang Zhaohui, head of the Youth Volunteer Department of the Communist Youth League Central Committee, and Chi Zhixiong, secretary of the Communist Youth League Provincial Committee, presented flags to the volunteer service teams of the Western Guangdong Plan and the Mountain Plan respectively.

Zhang Zhaohui pointed out that under the new situation, doing a good job in the western planning work this year and in the future is of great strategic significance for promoting the western development and building a well-off society in an all-round way, promoting the development of China's youth volunteer service cause, and guiding the growth of contemporary college students.

Tang Guozhong, president of Guangdong Volunteer Federation, pointed out when talking with volunteers that "good girls have ambitions in all directions, and those who have aspirations will struggle without regret". Tang Zhongguo said that it is the right choice for contemporary intellectual youth to make contributions to the grassroots and the people, let the flower of youth blossom in the place where the motherland needs most, and write a different and wonderful life in the great practice of realizing the Chinese Dream.

It is understood that the Guangdong College Students Volunteer Service Mountain Program is a local project of the Western China Program. Since 2003, Guangdong Province has sent a total of 3236 college student volunteers to 142 colleges and universities to 11 central and western provinces (regions) such as Tibet, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Ningxia, and 100 poverty-stricken villages and towns in the east and northwest of Guangdong Province to carry out voluntary services in basic education, agricultural science and technology, medical and health care, grass-roots social management, and grass-roots youth work, promoting local economic and social development Stability and unity in border areas and ethnic minority areas.
