At the expedition ceremony, Sun Rong, head of the Publicity Department of the Youth League Committee of the university, briefed the students on the western plan of the university this year. Since the launch of the "Western Plan" in 2003, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology has attached great importance to this work, taking the Western Plan as an important starting point for educating people and serving the growth and success of young people, and promoting the voluntary service work of the Western Plan from various aspects such as careful organization, strengthening publicity, improving mechanisms, and tracking services. This year, a total of 163 students from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology signed up to participate in the Western Volunteer Service Plan. Through written examination, interview, physical examination and other links, the school conducted a comprehensive investigation on the ideological and political, academic performance, volunteer service, health status and other aspects of the students. Finally, 16 students were selected, and the school awarded them the honorary title of outstanding graduates.

It is reported that 16 volunteers from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology will go to Tibet, Xinjiang and Shaanxi recently to carry out volunteer services such as basic education, health care, agricultural science and technology, youth work at the grassroots level, and social management at the grassroots level for a period of one to three years.
