Recently, the 10th Anniversary Sharing Meeting for the Implementation of the Western Plan Project in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province was held in Wanyuan City. Fu Jing, Secretary of Dazhou Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Youth League, attended the meeting and made a speech. Volunteers from all counties and cities in Dazhou attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Fu Jing hoped that the volunteers would become a new force to help fight poverty, a promoter of innovation and entrepreneurship, and a practitioner of hard work, so as to make positive contributions to the local economic and social development. After the meeting, the volunteers visited the Wanyuan War History Museum and shared the volunteer spirit of "dedication, love, mutual assistance and progress".
It is reported that since the implementation of the Western Plan of College Students' Volunteer Service in Dazhou in 2006, Wanyuan City has paid close attention to the implementation, strictly managed, innovated and developed, expanded the field of volunteer service, fully guaranteed the safety and health during the volunteer service, and promoted the steady implementation of the project. In 2006, Wanyuan City was included in the national western planning project county, and in 2013, it was included in the graduate education support group project county.
In the past ten years, the city has recruited and dispatched 204 college students from 64 colleges and universities in 20 provinces (cities), including Sichuan, Chongqing, Zhejiang, and Liaoning, to volunteer for the Western Plan, and dispatched them to 34 towns and villages, including Taiping, Qinghua, and Baisha, respectively, to engage in voluntary services such as medical care, agricultural science and technology, basic education, grassroots social management, and grassroots youth work. The implementation of the "Western Plan" has made up for the shortage of talents in some villages and towns in the city in the short term, and injected new vitality and vigor into the awarded units.
