In April this year, Li Jin's prose collection Ten Years of Travelers was published.

Li Jin said that Ten Years of Travelers is an emotional expression of his life. In 2004, Li Jin participated in the Western Volunteer Service Program for College Students and volunteered in the Corps. Now, he works in the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of the Corps. In 11 years, he changed from a college student volunteer to a civil servant, a writer, and a member of the Corps.

   Hometown and childhood

Li Jin began to write because he missed his hometown. Wang Guozhen once said, "There is no scenery in a familiar place." The same is true for Li Jin. Living in the ancient town of Jiangyu for more than 20 years, I have been influenced by many folk stories, which have accumulated into the background of nostalgia. When I arrived in Xinjiang, I was far away from my hometown, and the thoughts and memories of parting mixed with sadness poured out.

Growing up in the countryside, Li Jin has experienced all the experiences of rural children, digging wild vegetables, picking wheat ears, catching grasshoppers, digging bird nests... In the "Loessive Loess", "Old Stories in the South of the City", "Acacia Tree in Love", "Sparrow Life" and other chapters, his gentle and simple description of the countryside makes people feel a unique rural flavor.

When a rural child comes to the city, urban life is in sharp contrast to rural life. The richness of urban material culture is in sharp contrast to that of rural areas, where the simple and natural living conditions are lacking in cities. The essence of the difference between rural and urban areas is the difference in production methods, but the cultural context between them is actually interlinked. The detailed description of hometown and childhood in the book reflects Li Jin's reflection on the dual life of rural and urban areas.

   Tell the real Xinjiang

On the eve of graduation, Li Jin signed up for the Western Volunteer Service Program for College Students. Despite the opposition of his family and his ignorance of Xinjiang, Li Jin decided to "go out and have a try".

Before coming to Xinjiang, Li Jin had a sense of superiority about "supporting border construction". Li Jin imagined that Xinjiang was a desert desert, but when he really came to Xinjiang, he found that it was different from what others described. "Xinjiang has good scenery and sweet fruits. The most important thing is that Xinjiang people have a strong tolerance. Especially in the Corps, there are people from all over the world, and there is no sense of strangeness and distance between people." Li Jin felt that he should take up the pen and record a real Xinjiang, because "an outsider must have more effect on Xinjiang than a local interpretation".

Since 2010, every year during the college volunteer recruitment season, Li Jin will send several articles to his alma mater about his life as a college volunteer in the Corps. In addition to writing articles, Li Jin also went back to his alma mater to share his experience of working and living in the Corps with younger students. In March this year, Li Jin returned to his alma mater to give a speech. He said, "The Corps has provided me with a broad space for development, enabling me to display my talents and realize my dreams."

In Li Jin's opinion, it is not so much the mainland university volunteers who come to "support the border construction" as Xinjiang and the Corps that have made them successful.
   Shocked by the Corps spirit

"Living in the frontier, far away from my parents, I am extremely worried about every tree and grass in my hometown. However, in the past ten years, I have felt and experienced the Corps. The deeds of the older generation of army reclamation soldiers are moving and tear jerking, which is an important reason why I resolutely chose to take root in the Corps." Li Jin wrote in his prose collection "Ten Years of Travelers".

What makes Bingtuan people so great? What makes Bingtuan people so noble? What makes Bingtuan people "devote their youth to life and their descendants"? Li Jin has his own understanding. He said: "It is the strength of spirit. The Corps spirit, which mainly contains' love for the motherland, selfless dedication, hard work, pioneering and enterprising ', encourages the Corps people to garrison the border, and encourages them to build a beautiful home on the ancient wasteland."

Many people asked Li Jin: "Do you regret coming to Bingtuan?" Li Jin said: "I don't regret choosing to come to Bingtuan and choose to take root in Bingtuan. Now, I am a member of Bingtuan. Bingtuan has made me great. It is my bounden duty to publicize and introduce Bingtuan."

After arriving at the Corps, Li Jin was deeply shocked by the Corps spirit. In 11 years, Li Jin went from knowing nothing about the Corps to deeply understanding the Corps; In 11 years, Li Jin married and had children in the Corps, and got married and started his own business. From an ambitious college student volunteer of the Western Plan, he became an authentic member of the Corps, a soldier of the Army Reclamation with one hand holding a plow and one hand holding a gun. The Corps has already become his second hometown. (Reporter Luo Quan)
