What kind of dream is worth trusting with life? For Yao Yunpeng, a volunteer in the west, such a dream is the lovely smiling faces and colorful colors on the drawing board of the children in Toli, Xinjiang.

Two years ago, Yao Yunpeng, a college graduate, responded to the call of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League to "go to the west, to the grass-roots level, to the place where the motherland and people most need" and went to Xinjiang; Two years later, Yunpeng, who suffered from lung cancer, returned to his hometown for treatment. The love of Xinjiang and Shandong warmed Yunpeng and the 180000 college student volunteers in the 13 years of the Western Plan.

On the life coordinate, Yao Yunpeng wrote down the word "volunteer" without regret until the end of his life at the age of 26

"I don't want to be rich and honourable. I want to use my life to help more people in need. It's worth living." In August 2013, with such a dream, Yao Yunpeng, who just graduated from Qilu Normal University majoring in art education, packed his bags, picked up the drawing board and set foot on the K1336 train from Jinan to Urumqi.

In this year, a total of 9 students from Yunpeng's school passed the screening at all levels and became volunteers for college students in the Western Plan.

Yao Yunpeng is a poor student. After graduating from college, working to support his family and repay his parents is the choice of most poor students. As Wu Cong, a roommate of Yunpeng University, said, "It's very difficult for a person to do what he wants to do. Family responsibilities and other factors often do not allow you to devote your enthusiasm."

Yao Yunpeng was born in Yaojiabao Village, Yanghu Township, Yangxin County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province. In the fourth grade, when he came home from school, he began to cook porridge and stir fry vegetables, so that his parents who worked in the field could have hot meals at home.

As the eldest son of his family, Yunpeng has been expected to study since he was young. After graduating from primary school, he was admitted to Yanghu Township Middle School with the first place in the township; After graduating from junior high school, he came to Yangxin No. 1 Middle School with scores more than ten points above the mark; After graduating from high school, Yunpeng became one of the six people who entered the university in the village that year.

Facing the admission notice, Yao Dengmin was very happy, but he was worried about the high tuition fees.

"He is not healthy enough to do heavy work. He will make do with his income in the field." Yao Dengmin, his father who is nearly half a century old, sighed. He calculated the account: his family planted corn and wheat on 10 mu of land, and his annual income was only 10000 yuan at the best harvest time; If you go out to do odd jobs, you can earn 167 million yuan a year. This money is to pay for the family's daily necessities, support Grandma Yunpeng, who is in her 70s, build a house for her little son who is no longer studying, and buy medicine for the skin disease Yunpeng suffered when he was 15 years old. In this case, it will cost 134 yuan each time he goes to Beijing to see a doctor, and the medicine can only last for 3 months.

Fortunately, Yunpeng's second uncle generously donated 8000 yuan to solve the first year's tuition. After enrollment, Yunpeng applied for the national student loan and grant, and used his part-time job to distribute leaflets and do chores in the printing factory on weekends to make money, so as to reduce family pressure.

Wu Cong, his roommate, said that this black, thin, weak, scholar like rural guy with glasses was grateful: "Brother Peng always picks the cheapest dishes when he eats, but he will treat me generously when I run out of money."

Peng Zihao, another roommate, had the impression that Yun Peng always changed one or two sets of clothes he had bought from the stall. He carefully folded the military training uniforms that others had thrown away after military training and sent them home. A navy style T-shirt with blue and white stripes almost accompanied him throughout the summer.

Peng Zihao said that Yunpeng's performance was very good, and he could rank in the top 10 among more than 60 students in the same major. Yun Peng studies hard. He takes classes in the daytime and stays in the study room. After running every night, he goes back to his dormitory to read books such as art history borrowed from the library.

Relying on the good foundation laid by the university, when graduating, the senior brother engaged in painting education in Shanghai came to Yunpeng specially. However, Yun Peng politely declined his elder martial brother's offer and resolutely chose the west.

Yao Yunpeng, a poverty-stricken student, did not rush to make money to take care of the "small family", but he became a volunteer dedicated to "everyone".
