On December 19, the opening ceremony of the first batch of volunteers for the Overseas Service Program for Chinese Youth Volunteers - Serving United Nations Agencies was held in Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University. Comrade in charge of the Youth Volunteer Action Guidance Center of the Youth League Central Committee presented flags and spoke to the volunteer representatives. Manon Benier, Deputy Director of UNV Asia Pacific Region, saw off the first batch of volunteers via video. Zhang Nan, Director of the China Office of UNV, and the first group of comrades in charge of the Youth League Committee of colleges and universities participating in the project attended the expedition ceremony.

In order to better serve the national strategy and the overall situation of the party and government diplomacy, organize and guide contemporary Chinese youth to follow General Secretary Xi Jinping to go out, learn and publicize Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era in the practice of overseas volunteer service, enhance "four self-confidence" and achieve "two maintenance", The China Youth Volunteers Association cooperates with the United Nations Volunteers to implement the overseas service plan for Chinese youth volunteers - serving the United Nations agency project, and sends Chinese youth volunteers to the United Nations agencies, especially the relevant agencies in countries along the "Belt and Road", to carry out international volunteer services. This project is a practical carrier for learning and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's important thought of "promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind" and promoting the construction of the "Belt and Road". It is an important way to "make Chinese voice, tell Chinese stories, boost Chinese culture, and contribute to China's strength". It is also an important path for Chinese young volunteers to go global, undertake missions It is a vivid embodiment of Chinese youth. The first batch of seven college student volunteers of the project are from seven universities, including Shanghai International Studies University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Jiangxi Normal University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat sen University and Chongqing University. They are selected strictly through the written interview and other procedures of relevant United Nations agencies. They will travel to Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, India, Turkey United Nations agencies in the United States and other countries.

From December 16 to 19, the China Youth Volunteer Association and the United Nations Volunteers organized a centralized pre trip training for volunteers. Under the leadership of Vojislava Tomc Radivojsa, an international senior trainer, and focusing on improving leadership, volunteers have been trained in self-awareness, expression skills, teamwork, scenario drills, case studies, etc. Volunteers all said that they had a new understanding of themselves through training and had more mature ideas on how to better team work in the context of United Nations agencies. Yang Chengcheng, a professor of Shanghai International Studies University, gave a lecture on foreign affairs. Volunteers also went to the Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Central Committee of the Shanghai Yuyangli League to review the original mission of the League, so as to better inherit the spirit of Chinese youth excellence and pioneering spirit.
