The Tenth Batch of Overseas Service Plan Assistance Service Teams to Laos

   China Youth Network, Beijing, June 21 (Reporter Liu Zhe) On June 15, the expedition ceremony of the tenth batch of Laos aid service teams of the Overseas Service Plan of Chinese Youth Volunteers was held at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Wu Bin, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Communist Youth League Committee, Zheng Jin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission, and Fei Kuo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the East China Sanatorium saw the volunteers off.

At the ceremony, Wu Bin urged volunteers to always pay attention to protecting their own safety, carry forward the spirit of volunteer service of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress", inherit and carry forward China's fine tradition of volunteer service for foreign aid youth, and actively serve the economic and social development of Laos. The leaders present service equipment to the volunteers and present flags to the service team. Representatives of the units and families sent by the volunteers also came to the scene to see them off.

It is reported that the Overseas Service Plan for Chinese Youth Volunteers was jointly organized and implemented by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Ministry of Commerce. Over the past 16 years, hundreds of outstanding volunteers have been selected to carry out volunteer services in more than 20 countries in Asia, Africa and the Americas, which has achieved positive results and won widespread praise from local governments and people. The Laos Assistance Project is the first project implemented by the Overseas Service Plan for Chinese Youth Volunteers. Nearly 100 young volunteers went to Laos to provide volunteer services. The tenth batch of Laos aid projects were undertaken by the Shanghai Youth League Municipal Committee and consisted of 10 young volunteers from education, communication, medical and health units, with an average age of 34.4 years. In the early stage, after a series of procedures such as recruitment, assessment, selection and training, they will go to Laos to start a six-month volunteer service.
