Introduction to Xiamen

Xiamen is located at 118o04 ′ 04 ″ east longitude and 24o26 ′ 46 ″ north latitude. It is located in the southeast coast of China - the southeast of Fujian Province, where the Jiulong River enters the sea. It is backed by the Zhangzhou and Quanzhou plains, close to the Taiwan Strait, facing the Golden Gate Islands, and far away from Taiwan's Treasure Island and Penghu Islands, it was called "Egret Island" because it was a habitat for egrets in ancient times. During the reign of Taiping and Xingguo in the Song Dynasty, the island was also called "Jiahe Islet" because of its rice production of "several spikes per stalk". In the Yuan Dynasty, "Jiahe Qianhu Office" was set up. In the 20th year of Hongwu's reign in the Ming Dynasty (1387 AD), it was used to defend against the Japanese sea. The administrative system began in the Song Dynasty, under the jurisdiction of Tong'an County, Quanzhou Prefecture. It is said that Kou built the city, which is called "Xiamen City", meaning the gate of the National Building. Since then, the name of "Xiamen" has been included in the history books. In the 7th year of Shunzhi's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1650 AD), Zheng Chenggong, the national hero, was stationed on the island to fight against the Qing Dynasty
